January 5th Night Shoot - Part 2
Apr 13 2009 23:45 | 12 Comments
Every friday night it seems, a group of about a dozen people get together on the back side of Nagoya Station to practice "breakdancing". Very entertaining group of individuals I thought. Next time I'm there should dance with them for a bit. Should be fun.
The photos are all a bit different in terms of quality as I was just playing around with all the camera settings at the time of shooting them.
All the photos were taken without a flash so they came out a bit grainy. Still not bad at all for a point & shoot camera.
Two rather cute girls were among the "breakdancers".
"I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
Ive been waiting for this moment, all my life, oh lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord, oh lord"
- In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins
Great song.
Well, thats the song that comes to my mind when I look at that photo, in reality the song that was playing on the sound system they had with them, was "Jump Around" by "House Of Pain".
Funny how such things stick in your head.
Limbs randomly thrown together.
While the girl in the green shirt wasn't too good at dancing, my oh my did she look good doing it. -_^
If you haven't seen her face, probably wouldn't even guess that she was a she if all you had to judge was the body.
What he was doing was was very similar to that one Russian dance, can't think of the specific name of the move, but you can see it at 50th second of this video.
Wish I could do that...
One or two people were dancing in the center, while the rest were standing around stretching.
Gotta be pretty darn fit to do some of the things they were doing.
I'm in good physical condition, but I'd fall over on my side and cry if I attempted to do something like that.
Looks simple, but try it. Not as easy as it looks.
Most anyone can stand on their hands for a few seconds, but try standing on them for a minute while swinging your legs in the air. Try to do all of that without falling over.
Shame the girls didn't try these moves... ^_^
Smack goes the head on the ground.
What's interesting is that after rolling around on the ground wiping the floor with their clothes, the guys at least striped down to their underwear and changed into clean clothes before leaving for home.
The guy in the center, the one thats swinging his head from side to side. He was wearing glasses. Maybe they were glued to his head? Can't think of any better explanation for why they didn't fall off.
Tap tap tap.
Another one with glasses.
Shake shake shake.
Hooooo! Extra points if you know who says that. Say say say!
The guy in the hooded shirt was particularly fun to watch.
And for those who are still awake and made it all the way down, heres a small bonus. A video, not too long, but you can get the general idea of what they were up to. Also shot with the Lumix LX3.
And with that, with end this post. Hope you found it entertaining, and remember, bonus points for the Hoooooooo!

Does the video show up then? Thought I'd try out Flickr for hosting videos for the first time as opposed to YouTube.

"Hooooo!" Sounds like Soulja Boy to me.

@Santa
No no, Bryoz was correct, I was indeed referring to Razor Ramon HG.
The crap thats coming out of DeAndre's mouth is more along the lines of "supaman dat hoe" whatever the shit that means.

Go for it! I couldn't break dance to save my life. (^^;) I have see this in Osaka as well. There is even a Jazz Brass quartet that puts out some great sounds in the evenings. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11329649@N06/3287137985/in/pool-60748667@N00 Night life in Japan is so much fun.
