Around the neighborhood 20 03

On the night, before the day on which I took these photos, couldn't sleep at all for whatever reason, so around 7 in the morning, went out to explore the city some more. Usually I got up around 10 in the morning, so this was interestingly enough, the first time I saw the city so early :p

But before I get to the city, something I bought from a vending machine while wondering around the neighborhood at night given that I couldn't sleep. A freakin' melon soda/drink thing! Tasted absolutely wonderful - a little bit like the melon Fanta, but nowhere as carbonated.

But more importantly, look at this adorable melon mascot-character-thing.

Back to the city now! A few posts back I mentioned this fishy market - but given that it's active only in the morning, this was the first time I actually saw it alive.

The fish (and other sea creatures) being sold here, have just been caught mere hours ago.

Mostly the people who shop here are the ones who are buying fresh fish, in large amounts, for their restaurants. Not too many 'regular' shoppers here.

Everyone running around with these small carts.

Oh and this may be a good time to mention that I actually quite hate fish. I mean I don't mind when its alive and swimming, but when its dead... yeah, not so much... Can't really say I'm a fan of squids, octopuses, etc either.

In addition to the fresh fish, there are some more random things being sold here.

And now out of the market and on to the city, again.

I found a use for that concrete thing in the middle of the road. What I found is that its great to sit on top of it when trying to take photos of the road while the cars are moving. That is actually what I did in one of my night shoots. Though do be careful - not of the cars, but rather of the police, as I would imagine, this, you're not supposed to do. ^_^

Fifth or sixth photo of this construction site already? :p

Just ride up, onto the circle, and wait to be serviced. Everything is so nice, clean, and spacious. :)

Oh and if anyone is wondering why everything is so wet, its was raining for most of the night before. - and yes, I was walking around at night while it was raining.

So many people going to work at this hour.

After living in US for over a decade, wow, so refreshing seeing people walk everywhere. Well, ok, to be fair, if I lived in New York or some other such city, I would probably see a ton of people walking around too. ...But living near Detroit... well, lets put it this way, without a car, you'll go hungry because you won't even make it to the nearest food store on feet. No public transportation at all here, none whatsoever - except for a few buses which kinda smell like piss and cover almost nothing.

Most people waiting to cross the street - though some are just running across the street without waiting.

Let us now pray for the light to change faster! :p

This post turned out a bit smaller then usual, but hey, at least next one will be quite huge I think. :p

Rain is amazing! We had a pretty big storm here the other night and it was awesome to go outside during it.

Don't like fish eh?? That's too bad. I'm from Maryland and when you live so close to the Chesapeake Bay your kind of raised on fish and crabs. I would love to visit a fish market like that some day.
