Around the neighborhood 19 01

...before I get to the city, here's a photo of a cat licking its balls, while on a pile of hay, not too far from the apartment where I was living. And now on to the photos...

Around the neighborhood 19 02

Starting this photo walk, with the Sakae Station underneath my feet and the 180-meter high Nagoya TV Tower in front of me.

Around the neighborhood 19 03

Around the neighborhood 19 04

The fountain kinda reminds of those flat mushrooms you find growing on the sides of trees in the forest...

Around the neighborhood 19 05

Some guy sitting in all leather clothes and with an Elvis hairdo! :p

Around the neighborhood 19 06

Am I the only one who thinks that 'Just do it' is a silly/stupid slogan?

Around the neighborhood 19 07

Don't know what's cooler, the 'dandelion' lights in the middle of the street, or the pattern on the glass in the bank across the street.

Around the neighborhood 19 08

Something I noticed - almost all of the SUVs and vans (and even some of the larger sedans) have an extra mirror on the front of the hood. As far as I know it's the same in Australia - not too sure about EU, but in USA I haven't seen a single car, no matter how large or small with the third mirror.

Around the neighborhood 19 09

Went under for a few minutes to grab something from a store down there. The shopping areas underground in some places are just so... massive.

Around the neighborhood 19 10

At the time, in the tiny Nissan showroom, everyone was drooling over the Victory Spec R35. I must say, I quite like it in this color. :)

Around the neighborhood 19 11

Mmmmmmm! - Though if I was getting one, I'd just go with the stock and custom tune and upgrade it myself to my own specs, no need at all to overpay for factory upgrades if you're planning on stripping out and replacing half of it anyway.

Around the neighborhood 19 12

A slightly pimped Nissan Cube. It looks a bit weird, but its actually a surprisingly comfy car (the Japanese model at least, can't say anything about the American one) - for such a box, the seats inside are surprisingly nice.

Around the neighborhood 19 13

Another photo of the very cool looking lights in the middle of the street. Also, yay, Armani! Though personally I'm a bigger fan of Versace. Used to also like Gucci but these days it seems like almost everything they produce was approved but tramps - just all feels too trashy in its' style.

Around the neighborhood 19 15

A Wedding House it seems... Anyone looking to get married?

Around the neighborhood 19 16

Not sure what is it about this photo, but I absolutely love how it turned out. ^_^

Around the neighborhood 19 17

Around the neighborhood 19 18

Weird looking sculptures every 10 meters or so.

Around the neighborhood 19 19

The weirdness continues. Probably should've also taken a photo of the tags that are on the base, now i can't help but wonder what/why/where.

Around the neighborhood 19 20

Passing by the main TOTO office building (and showroom) in Nagoya. TOTO of course being the company that produces all sorts of products for bathrooms, toilet, shower, bedrooms etc... But I would guess what they're most famous for, is their wonderful washlets (ass washing toilets (if you find yourself near one, try it, quite an entertaining experience) ^_^ ).

Around the neighborhood 19 21

As I was passing by another building, saw something interesting... A tree going out of the steps... Weird, must inspect closer! On a different note, the shop/showroom or whatever it is - that 'DAIKEN' company, from what I know sells building construction materials - floors, ceilings and so on.

Around the neighborhood 19 22

The tree from closer/different side.

Around the neighborhood 19 23

Looks like it would be quite painful falling down these...

Around the neighborhood 19 24

Looking down towards the street.

Around the neighborhood 19 25

Around the neighborhood 19 26

A lady sitting on top of a dragon-lion-dog-creature-thing.

Around the neighborhood 19 27

While I was there, saw these palms a thousand times probably, yet each time I saw them, they just looked so out of place... As I said in one of the previous posts, before I came to Japan, never realized that palms grew natively there, just didn't think the climate was warm enough to support them, but after seeing myself how it almost never falls below freezing during winter... err, yeah, whatever, still is weird seeing them.

Around the neighborhood 19 28

Seems like half of my photos were taken while waiting for lights to change... ^_^;

Ah, 栄. I half expected to see me in one of those pictures running from one place to another ... used to do that around Sakae a lot. Now I'm mostly confined to the 名古屋駅前 (Nagoya Station) area.

These pictures turned out really nice. Did you catch any nice pics of the Christmas / New Year lights in Sakae while you were here? Every year they look nicer and nicer ....

    Michael Flux

@ジェイソン (Jason), Yeah, got quite a ton of those also ^_^ - especially loved that huge light display thing that was hanging on Nagoya Station in December/January - looked a bit crap during the day, but at night was quite awesome :D

wtf?a Starbucks next to an Armani shop.... weird, although i wish there was a starbucks near were i live, the nearest one is in mardid... wich is quite away... anyway, love those weird sculptures

  3. Smithy

    Nice photoset. ^^

    Ah the blessed life of a (male) cat or dog, you can just lie about and lick your balls, no one will complain. Saw a wild cat near work the other day, but didn't go 'Oh cute kitteh!' as it looked positively dirty and nasty. ^^;;

No SUV's or vans have that third outside mirror here in the EU countries that I know of. Is it a safety mirror to spot infants or bikers when turning or parking?
