Around the neighborhood 16 01

My oh my, 5 whole posts with 30+ images in each post to just publish a single photo walk, and thats considering that I'm posting maybe only a half of the photos I take. Lets start this post, with a very large construction site!

Around the neighborhood 16 02

After looking at some old satellite photos of this place what I found out is that there used to be some school here. Now, according to the plans on the wall of the construction site, there will be a relatively huge building.

Around the neighborhood 16 03

What I absolutely loved is that when the vehicles come out of the construction site and onto the road, they're first sprayed with water to prevent any dust from leaving the site, and then the part of the road where they were washed, is also washed.

Around the neighborhood 16 04

Ok, lets pause here for a minute and stare in awe at how damn shiny the rims are of a vehicle that is used for pouring concrete!!! I mean seriously, the construction vehicles there are cleaner then the BMWs are here...

Entrance number 6 to the fishy fish market place thing. Pretty dead almost all the time except very early morning were a ton of fresh fish and other sea creatures are being sold after being caught just hours ago. Some pics from this place in the morning coming up in a few posts.

As I'm standing on the bridge watching the cars pass by, a chess board slowly forms on the road. What are the chances? :p

Pretty interesting how 99.5% of all the Taxis are Toyota Crown(s)

Looks like the office was remodeling. Nothing left from the previous occupant and a bunch of new furniture in the middle. Also, I.

Some small construction site on the right.

Here's what's weird, I've been working in what you could call the automotive industry for like 3 years now, seen an infinite number of cars, yet this was the first time I saw a Prius with its trunk/boot open... Never really realized just how much it opens, pretty nice, looks quite spacious.

Around the neighborhood 16 19

Under the highway again, the large building on the left has a bunch of resources for non-Japanese folks. Actually went into it only once out of curiosity.

Around the neighborhood 16 20

Another nice combination of glass and concrete.

Passing by a school (on the right).

What I found interesting, is that these textured tiles are almost everywhere in the city. From what I understood, they're there to help the blind navigate, but with that said, in all the time I was there, I haven't seen a single blind person. Maybe they're also used by the people who look at their cellphone instead of at the road in front of them? Any ideas?

Around the neighborhood 16 23

Very textured wall.

Back here, when I showed these photos to some relatives, the response was almost the same from all of them, "how can you live in such a tightly packed place, no yard, no x no y etc...". I 'dunno about you, but I honestly love places like this. I mean at least there is actually something to look at, as opposed to living here where all buildings are more or less identical, between those buildings more or less identical lawns and so on and so forth - literally I'm dying of boredom here.

Around the neighborhood 16 25

If not mistaken this is actually the same apartment building I posted in in the last post, or the one before that - wonder why I took a photo of it 2 times... :p

Around the neighborhood 16 26

I honestly love houses in Japan so much, all are so unique. Also, I wonder why the car is parked on what looks like a rug...?

Around the neighborhood 16 27

And finally, lets end this post with a very pretty Nissan 350z. Is it just me, or do all cars look better in white?

  1. Tibul

Love the 350z a car I intend to own. I also agree with "loving places like that" round here everything is the same just an agonizingly boring place.

    Michael Flux

    @Tibul, Hmm why a 350? Don't like the 370 for some reason?

    Tibul

    @Michael Flux, Love the 370 too ^^

  2. Smithy

That construction site and those construction vehicles are the cleanest I've ever seen, those rims are so shiny! You say they spray them down before they leave the site??? 0_0

Over here you can tell the age of a construction vehicle by the layers of caked dirt and concrete it has...
In fact they're doing huge remodeling of the highway and ringway intersection, including building a high speed train railroad in between the highway near here and you get dust, mud and other crud until a good 10 miles out from the site...

    Heferkimbo

@Smithy, They are very clean!!... i think they use a new truck everyday... : P ...

  3. Heferkimbo

those things in the floor, for the blind are deadly!!!... i mean it, i fell like a bag full of potatoes thank to one of those... luckily japanese people have manners, and don't' laugh at you.... "directly".....

WOW i hate you.. how did you manage to take those construction site images!!... i tried very hard but every single one of them was covered by a green screen.. : ( ...that construction site is very clean and organized... i like the purple concrete pump, it certainly looks better that a Yellow Caterpillar. Hey, on the first image, are you over (on?) a bridge?, or (my favorite option) did you climb a light post!!..

    Heferkimbo

@Heferkimbo, Hmm.. "Around the neighborhood 16 14".... i think the light post was the best option... :(

    Michael Flux

@Heferkimbo, May I be the first to say hahahahah, at you falling :p - How'd you manage that one? If anything I would think you'd have a hard time slipping on them, and well, they're not exactly tall enough to trip on :p

And yeah, I was on the bridge that was going over the road next to which this site was located - I think if some crazy foreigner were to start climbing light posts during broad daylight, he wouldn't be staying in Japan for much longer -_^

    Heferkimbo

@Michael Flux, Hmmm.. i was outside Yodobashi Camera looking at the building that looks like pants, sky garden or something + it was snowing + beach boy that never saw snow in his life (6 years ago... now i'm more that careful) = emergency landing..... Hey michael, you should try posting some images or telling us your stories about embarrassing moments you had in japan, not only little accidents, but things that you normally do but they aren't so usual in japan.

For example trying to close an automatic door at a restaurant.. but man i didn't expect a very antique door to be automatic!!.. it looked so old... and i was trying to close the damn thing and people were staring at me, until the waitress told me in engrish "automatikuru", i was very ashamed.

  4. Moign Khawaja

Another day, another post with bunch of cool pics! My breakfast treat...yay!!!

Cars in white colour look very nice. Having said that, black coloured cars look sexy as well.

    Michael Flux

    @Moign Khawaja, Delicious aren't they :p

But I'd say the only cars that look 'good' in black, are the very expensive ones - ie S Class Mercs, Rolls, Bentleys etc. For the cheaper cars dark colors just make them look a bit cheaper I think.

    Moign Khawaja

@Michael Flux, True...not to forget Audi...It looks wikid in Transporter movies...;)

    Michael Flux

@Moign Khawaja, I dunno, looked a bit too much like a product placement :p - I preferred the first movie with the BMW :) Though don't get me wrong, I love Audis, especially the S8 :D
