It's pretty interesting how all sorts of styles are randomly mixed and matched, no coherence of any kind. I must say, I really like it this way, at least there's something to look at. Just take a look at the photo above, an extremely modern looking box, standing to a wooden house in the very traditional Japanese style.
Or lets take a look at the other side of the street...
First you get a house like this,
and right next to it, something like, well, this...
Then all sorts of patterns, shapes and so on.
A bit messy :p
Waiting for the light to change so I can cross the street. The building in front, while I'm not a hundred percent positive, I'm guessing its a school, at least it looks like one.
Another tiny car barely fitting into the equally tiny garage.
And waiting to cross yet another street.
Very cool looking apartment building.
So much waiting for the lights to change!
In the distance you can see the skyscrapers in the middle of the city.
Every single time I went towards the center of the city, I purposely took a different route.
And over the period of just a few month, I ended up exploring most of everything you see on the map above.
A Peugeot 407 and a Honda Integra parked in the garage of an apartment building.
Getting closer to the center of the city.
Window in a wall.
Above, train tracks going right though the middle of the city, though Nagoya Station.
A Honda CR-V with an orange 'JR' (Japan Railways) sticker on the back.
Church of some sort.
Passing under the train tracks.
A bird's-eye view of the place where the photos above were taken. Note the white 300 Series Shinkansen on the tracks. ^_^
And I come out on the other side of the tracks.
The roadworks in the city all just so amazingly fast and efficiently. The workers quickly appear, do their job and a few hours later are gone, with all thats left behind is a perfect road.
But minus the few "bad" roads here and there, 95% of the roads, are in absolutely flawless condition. Quite refreshing after the horrid roads you get in Detroit.
The building above, is the so called "Lucent Tower". Some very very pretty photos from inside it coming in a slightly later post.
And the skyscraper in the middle of the photo is the "Midland Square", which, among many other things, houses Toyota's HQ.
Interesting structure next to the Lucent Tower, looks very pretty when its lit up at night.
Waiting at one last light...
And with this photo, lets end this post. As always, the next one coming tomorrow ^_^

Tibul
Just as terrible here for the roadworks, they take weeks even months to do simple road maintenance.
Michael Flux
@Tibul, What I hate about roadworks here, is that every single year its the same thing over and over - first they block off the road a month or so in advance and it just stands there half closed without anyone doing anything, then when the workers actually come, they takes months to do even the smallest bits of work, and when they finally go away, a month later you already have potholes in the road which supposedly they fixed. And as I said, every year its the same thing, they come, take months to throw some asphalt into the potholes while its raining, and by the time spring comes the road is in even worse condition then it was before. :(
Tibul
@Michael Flux, Haha exactly the same as here ^^
toebile
You're photos make me read articles about Japanese license plates xD
Smithy
A nice series of photos again. ^^
Buying a Peugeot 407 coupé in Japan? Talk about poor taste...
Roadworks are like that here too you know, the workers appear, set up all their equipment, roadblocks, break up the concrete, then they quickly disappear and weeks later the site is still a horror, all that's left behind is an even more dilapidated road. Oh wait... orz
Michael Flux
@Smithy, heh, so I take it you're not a fan of Peugeots? :p
I 'dunno, never had any experience with them personally given that they're not sold in the States, but just looking at them... well, they look pretty if nothing else ^_^
toebile
@Michael Flux, What they don't sell Peugeot in the USA? That's a shame..... my brother just bought a Peugeot 206cc a month ago...
Michael Flux
@toebile, Nope, no Peugeot, no Fiat, no Renault, no Citroen etc... really the only european cars that make it to US are the Audis, BMWs and Mercedes and the like, but none of the brands with smaller/cheaper cars.
Smithy
@Michael Flux, nothing against Peugeot or French cars (was very happy with my Renault Megane at my previous company), it's just not an expected or evident choice in Japan where you have easy access to reliable Japanese cars.
In the sense that if you have the means to afford a large foreign coupé car model in Japan, why go for a Peugeot 407 coupé and not say a BMW, Mercedes,...
yamada
where were you when you're taking this pics? this place is spectacular ^^
Michael Flux
@yamada, Somewhere on the smaller streets of this area. And yeah, it is ^_^
Heferkimbo
the first house is very beautiful...the third one, looks vaguely similar to mine... ; )

This is such a terrific resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It is the old what goes around comes around routine. Did you acquired lots of links and I see lots of trackbacks?? ykcmkyuspjrrwgxhjgunlhzfmjaczvkagyg
