Around the city 1 01

For the sake of better organization of articles on the site, I'm going to divide the "city" (with the big buildings) and "neighborhood" (where regular people live, outside of the "city") photos into different series. The neighborhood photos will go on with the 'Around the neighborhood' naming scheme, and the city photos will go into the "Around the city" series. To be perfectly honest, I'm not entirely happy with such titles, but for now can't think of anything better. I am of course open to ideas.

Photo above was taken on the same bridge as the photos in the "Random Night Shots" article.

Around the city 1 02

The skyscrapers in the center of the photo are the Lucent Tower (curved building), Midland Square (darker building in the center), and the Nagoya Station.

Around the city 1 03

Some sort of a sculpture next to Lucent Tower.

Around the city 1 04

Heading towards the center of the city. Dark skyscraper in the center of the photo is the Midland Square building which is home to Toyota's HQ.

Around the city 1 05

The spiral shaped building located 2 a bit further down the street is the MODE GAKUEN school.

Around the city 1 06

Showed this in a previous article. A large animated board which was handing on the front of Nagoya Station around New Year time.

Around the city 1 07

Inside of the towers at Nagoya Station you will find a bunch of different shops and restaurants. Quite a wonderful view from up there.

Around the city 1 08

On one of the the upper floors of the station.

Around the city 1 09

Mostly restaurants on this floor.

Around the city 1 10

Escalators up and down.

Around the city 1 11

A very large book store on another floor.

Around the city 1 12

Subway line clocks.

Around the city 1 13

From the 2nd floor of the station looking down to the first.

Around the city 1 14

You'll also find a small Jimmy Choo store in the station. For those who don't know, Jimmy Choo is Danny Choo's father.

Around the city 1 15

Mail boxes. Especially loved this one, made out of a gas tank. The prices are a bit on the steep side though.

Around the city 1 16

On the first floor of the station.

Around the city 1 17

Under the station a large bicycle parking can be found.

Around the city 1 18

Love this parking as its not only in a convenient place and is free, but also makes for a great photo.

Am also thinking of starting a small "wallpaper" section. Just some of my prettier, more artsy photos in high res form which would make a nice wallpaper. Will probably do that sometime in the upcoming weeks.

    Love your pictures, Michael, I'm a fan of evening pictures just when the sun hid, I don't know, that's the time of the day when I like to be alone and meditate about my day -- your pictures capture that moment greatly.

    BTW, I've seen that your city pictures are from Nagoya, are the neighborhood ones too from Nagoya? Wanted to blog about one of your neighborhood pics one of these days but wasn't so sure as to where you were located ^^; any general information would be great, promise not to come on a pedobear cosplay!

  2. Michael Flux

    @Hao

    Yeah, all most of the photos are from Nagoya. Just before posting newer photos wanted to go back though all my archives first so everything is in chronological order. And thanks, glad you like them. I sent you an email few days back concerning that photo btw. Maybe was flagged as spam? :p

  3. Tamyu

    Pfft. They`re not all Nagoya. You didn`t live *in* Nagoya, in case you`ve forgotten. *sigh*

  4. Michael Flux

    @Tamyu

    They're "close enough" :p 2-3km from Nagoya (and spending most of the day in Nagoya) is still Nagoya enough -_^

  5. MikeD

    Bicycles, Bicycles everywhere and not a thing to ride.
    Love the pics, Michael. Great as always.
    So are you working in Japan or on a long holiday?

  6. Michael Flux

    @MikeD

    What do you mean not a thing to ride? Look at all the bicycles! -_^

    Well... If you haven't still noticed (lots of people haven't it seems), at the moment, I'm actually not in Japan, but rather am back in the States for a bit taking care of some things. And while I'm here, though I'd start posting all my photos, just to clean out my archives, and hopefully by the time I'm done posting them all, I'll be back in Japan and will start posting fresh photos. When I'll be back, I'll be back there as a student.

    But after that, there is a very high chance that I will continue working there and well, it'll be like a never ending holiday you could say. ^_^

  7. MikeD

    I thought you might be back in the states but I wasn't sure.
    Well good for you. I hope your plans all work out. Just
    remember, we're all behind you 100%. That way when we turn
    to run, we're in front.

  8. Edward

    Like those photos of the bike park. How about something like "out and about" as a title for one of the sections. ^^;

  9. yamada

    roads in Japan looks perfect no bumps at all, not like in Brunei where I live XD

  10. Michael Flux

    @MikeD

    Well, it's not as if I have a choice as to have them work out or not. It's as simple as "I don't make them work, I'm screwed." ^_^

    Edward

    794,000,000 results for 'Out and About', and only 26,200,000 for 'Around the neighborhood' on Google. Was just looking for something more... unique I guess... Well, I'll think of something eventually... ^_^

    Also, not entirely sure why, but for some reason each time I read your name, I think of Ein from Cowboy Bebop... weird eh... But, either one, probably one of the best animes of all time.

    @yamada

    Heh, yeah. In Detroit roads are just horrendous. You can quite literally see the potholes from the satellite photos on Google Maps. In Japan on the other hand.... we'll you've seen that last photo in my Bicycles in Japan article...

    wat about random city walk as title?
